Loftus Town Council is aware that there have been a lot of negative comments about Christmas Lights in Loftus, particularly the tree next to Loftus Town Hall, even though there were more publicly provided lights in Loftus in 2016 than ever before. The Council is therefore once again asking the public for its preferences on Christmas lights.
Members will use the results from this consultation to help the Council make decisions for 2017/18, although preferences expressed will not be binding - the Council needs to consider the practicalities and budget implications, as well as any expected developments (eg, possible redevelopment of the Market Place

The Town Council has been asked to clarify where it provides or gives financial help with Christmas trees across the parish. Full details can be obtained from the office, but in brief for winter 2015
The Town Council works in informal partnership with local organisations and businesses to illuminate the main shopping areas in Loftus Town centre over the Christmas period. This includes motifs on lamp-posts (where permitted) and buildings, and the Christmas Tree outside Loftus Town Hall. In addition, organisations putting up lights in the villages may apply for small grants towards the cost.
